Check out this gold coin commemorating King Baudouin’s 25th anniversary! This special coin was minted in 1976, exactly a quarter of a century after he ascended the throne. They’re rare because they were only issued that year. So we have a limited edition of these.

"Baudouin, King of the Belgians. 1951. July 17. 1976."

This gold coin, officially issued by Belgium, weighs 6.47 grams and is made of 90% gold, which amounts to 5.805 grams of pure gold. A true collector’s item, minted by the Royal Mint of Belgium to celebrate the golden jubilee of our beloved king.

Baudouin, born on September 7, 1930, ascended to the throne as King of Belgium on July 17, 1951. His reign was marked by numerous challenges, including labor disputes, the independence of the Congo in 1960, and tensions between Flemish and Belgian state education systems. Relations between Flanders and Wallonia were also often strained during his reign.

King Baudouin was known for his commitment to uniting Belgium’s regions and fostering harmony. He played an active role in promoting cooperation between Flanders and Wallonia. His efforts were focused on strengthening the country’s unity despite regional differences.

King Baudouin eventually passed away unexpectedly at his vacation home in Spain in 1993. His death was met with deep mourning in Belgium and far beyond, in tribute to his dedication to the country and its people throughout his long reign.
